    Small space can create aspirational modern formality

    This small courtyard required an innovative design solution to create a stunning illusion of space.

    Attentive and resourceful design can make a small space feel greater and attractive

    The brief:
    Initially a modest space, the garden was dreary and enclosed. The client desired a transformative design that would create a welcoming garden inspiring tranquillity and peace.

    We aim for all of our garden designs to be appealing whilst feasibly practical

    The design:
    Against the rustic, warm tones of the cedar wood cladding, the artwork provides an interesting focal point. The LED panels behind the artwork illuminate during the evening, creating a warm glow against the planting.

    Vertical dimensions of hornbeam pleached hedging create an illusion that the garden is larger and spacious. Unsightly but necessary objects such as bins, lighting and irrigation controls are skilfully and subtly concealed behind the cedar panels. Despite this garden being in almost full shade, the planting ensures bold foliage and colour through all seasons.
